Nutrition Used to Treat Serious Injuries

Nutrition is now believed to play a leading role when it's come to treating serious injuries sustained by wounded service members.
A report released by the Institute of Medicine, commissioned by the Department of Defense, shows that nutrition administered shortly after traumatic brain injury, can significantly affect health in the long run. This translates to infusions of calories and protein becoming part of the standard immediate aftercare of an injury.
Of course, this translates to civilians as well. According to IOM panel chairman John Erdman, PhD, "The investment the military makes will cross over into the civilian population for injuries suffered by those in car accidents, in motorbike accidents, by kids on soccer fields". Brain injuries have been of serious concern for those returning from Iraq and Afghanistan; since 2000, there have been 200,000 reported cases of traumatic brain injury, and of those cases, 2,124 cases were deemed to be severe.
If you've suffered a serious injury due to someone else's negligence, it is advised that you hire a personal injury lawyer.
