A husband and pregnant wife and their one-year-old son were injured recently in a serious wreck after a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle clipped their midsize SUV. The family was travelling south on Interstate 75 on Friday evening when a trooper clipped their vehicle causing it to veer off the highway and flip over. The severity of the rollover caused both parents to be ejected from the SUV and sustain serious injuries. Their son was secured in a child safety seat and escaped the incident with only minor injuries. Sadly, the mother who was five months pregnant lost the baby after the crash. All three surviving family members remain in the hospital with the husband and wife listed as being in fair condition. Make sure you know about your legal rights and options after a serious injury crash that was not your fault. Speak with a personal injury lawyer as soon as you can.
The FHP is investigating the tragic accident but has not yet released any information on what exactly caused the trooper to clip the SUV. The officer was not responding to a call and there has been no word as to whether or not the trooper was travelling at excessive speeds. No charges have been filed in the incident as yet but a lieutenant with the FHP made assurances that the crash will be carefully and thoroughly investigated and if findings show that charges should be made in the case then they will be. The trooper involved was not put on any sort of leave from duty but is reportedly taking personal time off.
