Nursing Home Watchdog Group Uncovers Registered Sex Offenders

Over the past six years now a nursing home watchdog group called A Perfect Cause has located over 800 registered sex offenders (as well as other types of criminal offenders) actually living as residents in various nursing homes and long term care facilities around the U.S. Through their investigation they have documented dozens of criminal acts performed by these offenders while they were living as residents.
Not All Abuse Incidents are Reported
A Perfect Cause found that not all federal, state or local law enforcement or regulatory agencies for long term care report or track all incidents of assault, theft, rape, murder or other crimes committed in these types of facilities. Based on this data, it can be accurately assumed that the numbers of abuses are actually much higher than those cases which are documented.
Keep a Watchful Eye
For any who have friends or family in long term care facilities it would be wise to keep a close watch for any signs of abuse. Common signs of abuse include bruises on the resident's body, fear of certain staff at the facility, noticeable withdrawing from people, dehydration, rapid weight loss, medication errors resulting in over drugging or adverse reactions, bedsores, signs of sexual abuse and more.
