A.C., just 10 years old, was recently honored by police officers and others for saving the life of a little girl who nearly drowned. A.C. had been swimming in the pool at the apartment building where his family lives when the incident happened. Some of his neighbors were also enjoying the pool and were grilling up some dinner on the poolside grills. A three-year-old little girl was playing in the pool in a floatation ring with the supervision of a relative but the relative left her in the pool when one of the grills became engulfed in flames. The relative jumped out to attend to the fire and the other adults had also become distracted by the flames. The little boy, however, noticed that the toddler had somehow slipped out of the floatation ring she was using and was nowhere to be seen. A.C. dove underwater and saw the 3-year-old face down at the bottom of the pool. The boy swam to her and took her to the edge of the pool where he got the attention of one of her relatives. The little girl was not breathing but the relative successfully performed CPR and revived her. A.C.’s actions had most definitely saved the toddler’s life while her family had become distracted. If your child or other loved one was injured or killed in a diving or drowning accident because of another person’s negligent care or recklessness then talk to a personal injury lawyer immediately.
Water sports and activities of all sorts are very popular in Miami and the rest of Florida but their enjoyment depends greatly on all involved being alert to the safety of others. Drowning or other accidents can occur in an instant and there is very little leeway for carelessness or negligence of any kind. Examples of common situations that can lead to injury or death include lack of life guards, intoxication, failure to childproof pool or spa access, inadequate maintenance, defective pool or diving board design, inadequate safety equipment and others.
Speak with a Personal Injury Attorney about Your Water-Related Accident Case
Pool accidents as well as boating and personal water craft accidents can result in severe injuries such as head trauma, lung injuries, brain injury due to oxygen deprivation, broken bones, lacerations, internal injuries or fatalities. When such injuries or a death could have been prevented if an individual or other party had not been reckless or negligent in ensuring the safety of others then that person should be held accountable.
