According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a big rig was found to be at fault in the single vehicle minor injury accident. The driver, M.S., was traveling east on Highway 32 when he lost control of the truck on a curve. The big rig pulling a large trailer full of cattle feed hit the railing along the right side of the road and then over-turned. It fell onto its side and a great deal of the feed was spilled onto the roadside. The two lane road remained blocked in both directions for some time as emergency crews attended to the situation. The driver of the big rig was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and later released. A hazmat crew arrived after receiving a miscommunication concerning the load that had been spilled onto the roadside. A tow truck crew was able to right the truck and its trailer and get it out of the way of traffic. Investigators reported that M.S. was driving too fast for the weight of load it was hauling and so caused the vehicle to overturn on the curve. Luckily, no other cars were involved and the trucker escaped with only minor injuries.
Hurt in a trucking accident?
Large commercial truck drivers have an enormous responsibility when it comes to making sure that they are safely sharing roadways with other vehicles. Catastrophic injury accidents can occur if the driver of a big rig, semi truck, tractor trailer truck or other large commercial vehicle fails to operate the truck in a safe manner. Sometimes the drivers are only partially at fault or not at fault at all—the negligence may lie with those who load the truck, vehicle maintenance workers or the truck or trailer manufacturer. It is crucial that you have a personal injury attorney on your side who is well versed in trucking accident cases so that all areas of possible negligence are fully investigated.
