Over 1 Million Maclaren USA Strollers Recalled!

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of more than 1 million Maclaren USA strollers.
The recall comes shortly after Maclaren USA Inc., reported at least 15 injuries to children and infants, including 12 fingertip amputations and 3 instances of severe lacerations to a child's hands. The company expects more reports of injury to come soon.
The company said the hinge that allows the stroller to compact down is responsible for the injuries. When the stroller is upright children can stick their fingers inside the hinge. If the hinge collapses it can cut off the finger or severely injure it.
The models affected include the Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, Techno TXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno, and Easy Traveller. The word "Maclaren" is printed on all stroller models.
The recalled models were sold at Target, Babies "R" Us, and other juvenile product and mass merchandise stores from 1999 through November 2009. The strollers retailed for anywhere from $100 to $360.
Consumers are urged to stop using the product immediately and contact Maclaren USA for a free repair kit.
