In Lynn, Massachusetts, a father (Anastasios Mavros) of a Pickering Middle School student is filing a personal injury lawsuit against the city. The father alleges that his daughter, Amanda R. Mavros, suffered severe burn injuries on her left forearm from an uncovered heater that was inside of her school in the winter of 2007.
He claims that the school was negligent and because of that, his daughter was seriously burned. Mavros filed his lawsuit on behalf of his daughter in Salem Superior Court.
In his complaint against the city, Mavros states that on or around December 13, 2007, his daughter was a student at the Conomo Avenue school. She was in room 108 when she came into contact with an unprotected heater, which burned her arm. The lawsuit states that burn injury resulted in permanent scarring and immense pain for Amanda.
Mavros said that the school was negligent and that it should have posted warnings about the heater. He also said that the school failed to properly maintain the dangerously hot heater.
At this time, Mavros is being represented by Attorney Eldon D. Goodhue. Goodhue is currently seeking a trial before a jury and proper monetary compensation for his client's daughter.
