Last August a young man was arrested for causing a fatal drunk driving accident. This month he will go on trial for the incident which took the life of a woman in Del Sur. The accident happened on Aug. 30 around 10 a.m. Eyewitness testimony shows that the driver, 25-year-old L.J.F., was speeding on a local street when he struck a woman trying to cross the road. The 56-year-old victim was taking a hike with her sister and husband when she was struck. The judge overhearing the case told the prosecution that there was enough evidence to go to trial but also granted the defense one request. His attorneys had asked that the charge of gross vehicular manslaughter be dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor.
While it is uncertain whether there is evidence of alcohol being involved, speeding is definitely to blame. The young man is believed to have been traveling at a speed of 81 mph when he struck the victim. Hurt during a car accident with a drunk driver?
