City of Denver to Settle Accident Lawsuit

Rockymountainnews.com is reporting that the city of Denver has reached a personal injury settlement agreement for $25,000 with an Aurora woman that was injured during a motor vehicle accident.  The woman sued the city because she was injured while involved in an accident with a city worker.

On November 3rd, the City Council considered a proposed settlement with Kareen Head.

Court documents state that Head was heading North on Interstate 25 back in April of 2007.  While driving north, head was hit by a Public Works employee named Rodney Fresquez Jr.  The city worker is reported to have been driving a recycling truck when he failed to yield the right of way and made an unsafe lane change.

Immediately after, a collision occurred and caused Head's vehicle to spin, cross several lanes of traffic and then crash into the guardrail.  Head sustained muscular and skeletal injuries as a result of the car accident.

Head's attorney, Bradley Scriven, said, "It wasn't a catastrophic event, but it certainly affected her life."

The Public Works department reports that Fresquez is known as a good employee who is still employed by the city of Denver.  Fresquez allegedly feels "horrible" about the accident, but feels it was not necessarily his fault.
