What is a Slip and Fall?

What is a slip and fall? Also known as a trip and fall, it is when someone trips, slips, or falls as a result of dangerous or hazardous conditions on someone else's property. This includes but is not limited to falls resulting from ice, water, or snow, as well as poor lighting, a hidden hazard, changes in flooring, that are not well-announced to someone who is not familiar with the territory.

In 2004 the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control estimated that over eight million people were injured in falls across the country.

One type of injury, fall related injuries, are of particular concern to older individuals. The Center for Disease Control reported that in 2005, 15,800 people over the age of 65 died as a result of fall injuries, while 1.8 million people in this same age bracket were treated in emergency rooms for fall injuries.

If you are on someone else's property and are injured because of a dangerous condition there, you could hold the property owner responsible for your injuries. Your best option is to seek the advice of a personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
