One Woman Killed during DUI Accident

One woman was killed and another injured when a man driving under the influence caused a serious auto accident. A man driving near the Strip on Tropicana Avenue rear-ended another vehicle, causing serious injuries to the driver, 55-year-old Cynthia Konarksi, of Las Vegas. Her passenger, a 21-year-old female, died at the scene. Police are not yet revealing her identity to the press.
The driver that caused the accident, 32-year-old Edris Ghani, was arrested on suspicion of being impaired while driving. He had been travelling west on Tropicana in his 2004 Mercury Sable when he crashed into Konarski's 2009 Mercedes-Benz CLS 550.
Ghani, along with his passenger Shakeeb Azizi, 26, were both uninjured.
This accident constitutes the 77th traffic fatality this year that occurred within the jurisdiction of Las Vegas police.
