Orlando, Florida – A New Hampshire couple sues Sea World after witnessing a 6-ton Orca Whale named Tilikum drag a trainer off a platform by her hair and then drown her, sighting that the “emotional distress” the incident caused to their ten-year-old son was the reason for their claim.
The horrific incident occurred on February 24th, 2010. According to a sheriff’s office report, Brancheau, 40, was not in the water with Tilikum when the incident occurred, however, the trainer was lying on her stomach on a platform which was submerged in a couple of inches of water. Brancheau was nose to nose with the whale as her long hair floated into the whale’s mouth, when she was dragged in. The incident happened just after a “Dine with Shamu” show, where there were still some remaining guests who witnessed the incident take place. If you or someone you love has been injured due to someone else’s carelessness or negligence, contact a personal injury attorney for further assistance with your claim.
