The family of a Saint Louis man has begun legal action against the driver of a truck that they feel is responsible for the fatal accident. 40-year-old K.B. was killed in mid December while driving his SUV. He was driving across a narrow, two-lane bridge just after 8:00 in the morning when the accident occurred. The driver of a tractor trailer truck carrying logging equipment was travelling in the opposite direction on the bridge. According to authorities, one of the trailer's tires struck a guardrail on the bridge causing the incident. A piece of equipment called a "log dragger" fell off the tractor trailer of the truck when the chains securing the load broke from the jolt. The large piece of equipment—which was described by police as an oversized forklift—then fell into K.B.s lane. K.B. collided with the log dragger head-on and died as a result of the fatal injuries inflicted. If you have been injured in a trucking accident that was not your fault or if you lost a loved one in a crash then speak with a Saint Louis truck accident attorney to learn more about your legal options.
Widow and Sons of Man Killed in Truck Accident Seek Damages
K.B.'s wife and two sons are pursuing legal action against the trucker for unspecified damages. Police have ticketed the truck driver for improper lane use (resulting in striking the guardrail) and the wrongful death suit alleges that he also travelled into oncoming traffic, was travelling at excessive speed for the narrow bridge, failed to keep a proper lookout and did not ensure that the load was fully secured.
