As reported by WMC-TV report, a 14-year-old Bolton High School student died in an auto accident in Arlington, Tennessee last November due to the negligent driving behavior of the implicated motorist. The driver of the vehicle that killed the student was reported to be speeding, which resulted in a loss of control and the succeeding crash. According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office crash report, the traffic accident resulted in not only the death of the student but in injuries to 3 other passengers as well.
Such an incident illustrates the tragic consequences that can occur when a driver fails to obey traffic laws, putting himself and others at risk. Speeding can be viewed as a form of negligence; those injured by such actions have a legal right to financial compensation for damages connected with the injuries they sustain.
According to the research done by the U.S. Department of Transportation, speeding increases the risk of being involved in an automobile accident. The likelihood of injury increases exponentially with speeds exceeding the posted limit. Such injuries range from whiplash to broken bones, head trauma, loss of limbs, internal organ damage, and brain and spinal cord injuries.
