Stanley Steamer Partners, Inc. Held Liable In Personal Injury Suit
After a man was hospitalized in West Virginia when his vehicle was involved in an automobile collision, he suffered serious injury and medical bills. The victim has filed suit against the driver allegedly responsible for the crash, as well as the company employing the man.
According to court documents relating to the incident, the plaintiff in the case is a Raleigh County native who was driving his automobile on U.S. 19 near the town of Princeton, West Virginia, at the time of the accident. On December 14th of 2011, the victim was traveling in moderate traffic on the interstate when a truck owned by Stanley Steamer Partners, Inc. was heading in the same direction.
The plaintiff alleges that the driver failed to notice his vehicle, did not "maintain control" of the truck, and "failed to yield the right-of-way" just before the accident. The two automobiles collided at high speed, leaving the victim severely injured and his car damaged.
Damningly, the personal injury lawyer representing the plaintiff alleges, the driver of the truck made a statement after the incident admitting that he was not paying proper attention and watching for other vehicles at the time of the collision. This statement is being used a key piece of evidence in the trial.
According to files pertaining to the suit, the Stanley Steamer concern is also being held liable for trauma suffered by the victim. The plaintiff alleges that due to the force of the collision, he suffered traumatic injury requiring hospitalization and surgery. He is seeking both compensatory and punitive damages against the company and the driver, alleging not only physical and emotional pain, but also a diminished capacity to function as a result of his injuries.
