Pregnant Driver Killed In Tragic Car Crash
According to a statement made by police, the death count in a fatal accident that killed the driver and put three children in the hospital has been updated to include the woman’s unborn twins, Colorado KKTV 11 News reports.
The accident is said to have occurred on April 30th. The 25-year old woman, who it is now understood was seven months pregnant with twins, was driving her car along Harrisville road. The Colorado State Patrol is still investigating, but the on the scene analysis seems to show that she started to go off the road, then over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle. The car, a Chevy Blazer, went off the road, rolling over, before colliding with a fence, bringing it to a halt. State Troopers believe that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which was a major contributing factor to her fatal wounding.
The children for the most part escaped serious injury. The two older children, an 11-year old boy and an 8-year old girl, had also failed to strap into safety harnesses, and were ejected from the window of the car and taken to a hospital. The youngest child, a boy whom patrolmen report as being 5 but the family says is only 4 years old, was wearing his seatbelt and suffered only minor wounds. The three children are currently in the hospital but are expected to recover without serious complication.
State Troopers have stated that they do not believe that alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, and are still investigating what caused the driver to lose control in the first place.
