California Victim Killed by Shark

Just off the coast of Santa Barbara, a surfer met his death today when he was attacked by a violent shark. The deceased individual was about 40 years old and was in the ocean off the coast of the charming beach town where he was planning to catch a wave. The shark moved in for the kill shortly after 11 a.m. when the victim was wading out in the water near Surf Beach in Lompoc, California. Police say that he was close to Vandenberg Air Force Base. The surfer was with a friend, who pulled him from the water after the attack took place and called 911. He started first aid procedures as the Vandenberg Air Force Fie Department rushed to the scene. One spokeswoman said that the paramedics started performing CPR immediately but then stopped when they realized that the individual had passed away.
Williams said that a shark expert wanted to investigate the attack by inspecting the corpse. He hoped that he could identify which type of shark imitated the attack. The beach has been closed while the investigators and authorities try to determine the cause of the attack. The victim was not affiliated with the air force base, but was a local who enjoyed surfing as a hobby. Shark attacks may be somewhat rare, but they do happen. In some cases, the beach patrols can be held responsible for the accident, especially if a lifeguard was supposed to be on duty at the beach and did not notice the danger out in the water.
