Texas Millionaire Stanley Marsh 3 Sued for Paying Minor for Sex

Stanley Marsh 3 has been named in a personal injury lawsuit by the mother of a minor child for paying her son with cash, drugs and cars so that he could perform sex acts with the boy in his offices in the Chase Towers, as reported by Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

The suit was filed against Stanley Marsh 3, not the 3rd but named with the actual number 3, as well as Marsh 3's wife and guardian, G.M.,; his son, S.M. IV; D.W., a Marsh associate; SM3, a limited liability company; and McCartt & Associates.

The suit was filed in Amarillo's 181st District Court on October 24.

Marsh 3 is accused of engaging the teen in sexual acts during 2010 and 2011 when the boy was 15 and 16 years old. The two also allegedly watched pornographic films together.

The boy is referred to as John Doe in the suit.

The attorney representing the Marsh family and D.W. is Kelly Utsinger. In challenging the lawsuit, Utsinger told reporters, "It's not my usual practice to say much about pending litigation to the media, but I will tell you we will be filing responsive pleadings to deny these allegations."

According to the lawsuit a mutual friend introduced the boy to March 3. The suit states, "Marsh routinely paid (John Doe) in cash and checks, and provided Doe with alcohol and a litany of drugs. Marsh 3 bought two vehicles for Doe as well. Over the year, Marsh 3 would give Doe sums of money that at times would be as much as $10,000."

The suit also claims that the boy's later dependence on drugs was due to "Marsh 3's provision of drugs and cash to Doe."

D.W. is accused of knowing about the abuse and acting as a "gatekeeper" to March 3. Allegedly D.W. required that all young men that visited March 3 sign a confidentiality agreement – before engaging in sexual acts. As alleged in the suit, Doe is "just one of the many victims of Stanley Marsh 3."

Houston-based attorney Anthony Buzbee is the plaintiff's attorney. Buzbee has claimed that Doe's mother and grandmother alerted Amarillo authorities to March 3's actions and have submitted sworn statements. Buzbee said, "I have every confidence the DA and police are doing their jobs..."

District Attorney Randall Sims, for the 47th district, said, "I will neither confirm nor deny the existence of any pending investigation."

The suit is seeking unspecified damages for Doe's alleged emotional distress. The remaining defendants are named for breaching a duty of ordinary care by their failure to prevent Marsh 3 from sexually abusing Doe.

Amarillo police spokesman, Cpl. Jerry Neufeld, said, "Keep in mind that if the alleged offense took place while he was a juvenile we could not identify him as the victim or (provide) any details that could possibly identify him as a victim…"

In 1974 Marsh 3 drew attention for burying 10 Cadillacs – to make a point that the best art is unexpected art. He owns the Dynamite Museum and formerly owned the KVII television station.

This is not the first time Marsh 3 has faced legal action in regards to sexual misconduct with minors.
