When you purchase a food item at the grocery store or a restaurant, you should expect that food to be delicious and reliable. Food that has harmful or accidental additives can lead to personal injury and product liability lawsuits, as well as recalls and other legal issues. In April of 2012, an Illinois woman discovered a razor blade hid between the biscuits of her McDonald’s breakfast sandwich. The managers explained that the razor blades are used to clean tight corners, and that the dirty blade was probably left over from the night before. Had she been harmed by the blade, this woman could have sued for an exorbitant amount of money.
In another nasty food faux pas, a young man was eating his Wendy’s French fries and discovered maggots crawling through the box. He didn’t discover the little bugs until after he had been consuming the French fries, which made him incredibly sick. In another situation, a 35-year-old found the toe of an identified animal in his container of Spinach and Artichoke dip. Another dangerous eating situation occurred when a fifty-year-old bus driver almost choked to death on a coil that was inside his chicken breast from JFK Chicken in Brooklyn, New York. A woman from Louisiana claims that she was given post-traumatic stress disorder when she discovered a fingertip in her Applebee’s salad in a lawsuit that was covered extensively by the press.
A man from upstate New York sued when he found a bloody Band-Aid in his Pizza Hut pizza. He claimed that the company failed to address his concerns about the situation, and explained that he could have caught various diseases if he had accidentally ingested the soiled bandage. A teen in Salt Lake City, Utah was hit with a horrific illness after biting into a green pill in her trail mux from Whole Foods. The teen went numb and contracted a sore throat after ingesting the odd pill. These and dozens of other food horror stories are the basis for lawsuits every year. If you have been affected by a faulty food find, then contact a personal injury lawyer today to start your claim.
