Train and SUV Collision Reported

One driver's impatience behind the wheel caused not only his own death but two more. Police are still investigating the crash that took place between a SUV and a train last week in California. According to the police report, the 62-year-old man was waiting for a train to come when he simply lost patience. He proceeded across the railroad crossing just as the commuter train came down the line. Officials in Sacramento are calling this the worst train accident to have occurred in 25 years. It took the lives of the driver, along with his 25-year-old daughter and 22-month-old grandson. The man's wife is in a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Although train accidents are not uncommon in California, with an average of one to two per year at crossings, they rarely lead to fatalities. Between 2007 and the latest crash, there have been just nine accidents between cars and light rail trains in that area of California. If you were hurt during a car accident, now is the time to discuss your options with a personal injury lawyer in your city.
