Texting is a Major Problem While Driving

Even though thirty states have now made texting while driving illegal, people have not been completely deterred from partaking in the dangerous activity. According to a report recently released by Consumer Reports, 64 percent of people polled have observed someone texting while behind the wheel of a vehicle.

One mother has been an avid supporter of anti-texting laws after her daughter died in a car accident while reading a text. Tracy O'Carroll says that if her daughter, Sarah, had not been reading a text message, she would not have swerved into the path of the truck driver who ultimately killed her.

While texting and driving has mainly been attributed to younger drivers, the Consumer Reports National Research Center survey showed that one in three drivers under the age of thirty had recently texted while driving.

There are now some apps that allow drivers to safely read texts while in the car, like Drive Safe.ly Pro, which reads texts aloud to you.

Were you injured due to the negligence of another driver?  If so, now is the time to speak with a personal injury lawyer near you.
