Car Accident Kills Retired Pastor and His Wife

A car accident in St. Paul, MN left a retired pastor and his wife dead on the road last week. Vern Voss, 70, and wife Kathleen Voss, 70, were traveling through the intersection of 46th St. East and Park Ave. South when they were struck by another vehicle.

Voss died later that day while his wife finally succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.

Pilgrim Lutheran Church Pastor Peter Leyrer, the current pastor of Voss' former church, said that the pair will be greatly missed. Voss was well-known for his years of service to the church from 1986 to 2005; he was also an accomplished vocalist and guitarist. Music was always a large part of Voss' sermons, Leyrer added.

The pair had three children together, all of whom live in the metro area.
