Unknown Causes Contributed to Car Accident Death

According to the Louisiana State Police, officers were dispatched after one vehicle crash 3 miles west of US 371.  The car accident resulted in the death of a woman from the city of Coushatta.

Investigators said that 66-year-old Rosemary Kitchings was driving east on LA 786 in a 1996 Saturn SC2 passenger car when she entered a left hand curve.  For reasons unknown, her car traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected to the left, and caused the vehicle to re-enter traffic lanes.  Then, the car traveled off the left side of the road, overturned and finally came to a full stop on its roof after hitting a large tree and fence.

At the time of the collision, Kitchings was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from her vehicle.  She was later pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by a coroner.
