19 Year Old Dies in Auto Accident

On Wednesday morning, it is reported that in 19-year-old from the city of Spartanburg was killed during an auto accident on I-85.

According to the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office, Gregory Sashkov was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision which occurred just north of Valley Falls Road.  Police say that the accident took place just after midnight and that prior to the collision, Sashkov was on his way home.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says that Sashkov was driving a 2003 Lexus SUV when he ran off the left side of the road and crashed through the cable barrier.  His vehicle crossed the southbound lane, began to roll over into the emergency lane and then became airborne before hitting a bridge.

Police report that Sashkov was ejected from the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt.
