Two Car Accident Sends People to Hospital

A two-car collision on U.S. 77 about ten miles north of Winfield sent four people to the hospital last week. Jessica Epting, 27, was transported to Via Christi Hospital on North St. Francis in Wichita. According to a hospital spokesperson, she was treated and then released on the same day. Two children riding with them - Talia Epting, 6, and Patricia Outland, 10, were also taken to the hospital to be checked out by medical staff there.

At the time of the accident Epting was riding as a passenger in her sister's (Jennifer Epting-Williams, 31) 2000 Pontiac. It collided with a truck being operated by Randy Long, 45, around 6 PM. Epting is the only person involved in the crash that was not wearing a seat belt.

Members of the Kansas Highway Patrol believe that Long was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto U.S. 77 when he failed to yield to Epting-Williams going southbound.
