Teenager Injured during Bike Accident

A teenager in Pratt, Kansas tried to take a shortcut but found himself on the hood of another car.

Austin Hornof, 13, rode his bicycle between two stopped cars in the eastbound lane of First Street when he collided with a 1993 Mercury going westbound. The driver of the vehicle, Mark Warren, 58, did not have a chance to stop his car before hitting the teenager.

Responding officer Kent Wyatt of the Pratt Police Department stated that Hornoff was thrown onto the hood of the Mercury, and then forward onto the pavement in the westbound lane, where medical staff attended to him. Pratt County EMS brought the teenager to Pratt Regional Medical Center; he was later transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. At this time no patient information is being released by Wesley.
