After investigating the single-car crash that left an unidentified victim dead last Saturday, Chesapeake police have finally identified the man as Thomas Spradlin, 52, of Virgina Beach. His truck was found in front of a power pole where it had crashed after leaving the side of the road near the North Carolina border.
When police arrived the power pole was laying on top of the 1993 Nissan pickup. Spradlin was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. The police reported that he was not wearing his seat belt at the time but alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
