Man Sues Bar After Assault Incident

An Orange County, California man is suing a local bar he claims failed to prevent him from getting punched in the face.
In his lawsuit against Huntington Beach Beer Co., Jesus Gomez claims the owners of the bar were negligent and should be held liable for his injuries because their bouncers saw another man hit him in the face, but failed to do anything to stop the attack. He alleges the bouncers had not been properly trained to call the police in the event of an outbreak or fight. His lawsuit also states that the bouncers turned a "blind eye" to the fight.
Gomez, who maintains he didn't start the fight, states that he has suffered "great mental, physical, and nervous pain and suffering and severe emotional distress" following the incident. He is also seeking damages for lost earnings.
Gomez is demanding a jury trial.
At this time, the owner of the restaurant has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
