In Texas, it is reported that the family of a teenager that ran away is planning to sue state and county officials. The 14 year old, Anthony Lucas, was shot and killed during a shootout with law enforcement.
Lucas' death occurred on April 4th during a standoff with Hudspeth County deputies and Texas Parks and Wildlife officers.
According to the family's personal injury lawyer, Gary Hill, the family has offered to settle their wrongful death claim for $10 million. Hill said that if the family is not able to settle their claim with the state and county, they will move forward with a formal lawsuit.
At this time, officials from the state and county have refused to issue comments on the case.
If you have lost a cherished family member due to the wrongful, reckless or negligent actions of another person, it is important that you discuss your case with a personal injury attorney immediately. In some cases, you may be able to receive compensatory and/or punitive damages for your devastating loss.
