Man Loses Slip & Fall Case

Recently, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled that black ice is to be expected in the winter months, even though it is dangerous when present in parking lots.
The ruling came after a man by the name of Thomas Janson filed a personal injury claim against a funeral home after his slip and fall accident, Janson fell in the funeral home's parking lot after slipping on a patch of black ice.
If hazards are quite apparent, lawsuits are difficult to win. Yet, Janson said in his claim that the black ice was invisible and that the funeral home had a responsibility to warn people or make sure the parking lot was free of ice.
The Supreme Court felt differently and said that freezing temperatures, snowfall and other winter weather conditions should have been warning enough and Janson should have been more careful. The ruled against him and in favor of the defendant.
