Drunk Driving Causes Multi-Vehicle Accident

On Thursday morning, a drunk driver in Charlotte caused a serious auto accident on I-77.  Authorities say that the driver, 61 year old Arthur Bidgood, was traveling the wrong way on the road while under the influence.

AT approximately 2:00 AM, Bigwood was driving in the wrong direction when a pickup truck driver swerved to avoid hitting him, but ended up crashing into Bigwood's vehicle.   Police say that the driver of the pickup jackknifed and was then hit by a tractor trailer.

The pickup truck driver was hauling paint at the time of the drunk driving accident.  After he was hit, paint spilled all over the interstate. 

Officers report that Bigwood has been charged with DWI, reckless driving and driving in the wrong direction.
