Cheerleader’s Mother’s Wrongful Death Suit Dismissed

wrongful death lawsuit filed in Middlesex Superior Court has been dismissed.

The lawsuit was filed by Ruth Burns, whose 14-year-old daughter died from a lacerated spleen as a result of an incident at East Elite Cheer Gym in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Burns’ lawsuit was filed against the gym’s owners and coaches, as well as against several cheerleading organizations.

The lawsuit was dismissed without having reached a settlement and without the plaintiff having received any money.

In a statement, the gym acknowledged that it was pleased the case has been dismissed, but still wished to convey its condolences to the mother for her tragic loss.
