Two Killed and Two Injured in Auto Accident

This week, the North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating serious auto accident that led to the death to Wingate University students. Police say that the accident occurred near the intersection of White Store Road  and Pagelend Monroe Road.

According to officers four incoming freshmen were involved in the collision and two of the freshmen died at the scene of the accident.

In a recent statement, Wingate University President Jerry E. McGee said, "Right now all of our prayers and support are focused upon the families and the classmates of these students. This is heartbreaking news as these promising young men and women were and are new members of our campus family."

Police say that to the other individuals in the accident were taken to the hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. At the time, the names of the students that were killed have not been released.
