Drunk Driver Hits Pedestrian in Florida

In Odessa, Florida, a man was critically injured after being hit by a truck this morning. The accident took place on State Road 54 earlier today. The man, 21 year old Dallas Young, was struck by a pickup truck at approximately 1:15 AM.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Young was crossing State Road 54 near County Road 589 when he was hit by 63 year old driver, Maurice Brosnan. Police say that after hitting Young, Brosnan crashed into a nearby utility pole.
Investigators claim that Young was not using the crosswalk and had crossed the busy road inappropriately. He was immediately taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg where he is currently listed as being in critical condition.
Investigators also say that Brosnan was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was placed under arrest for DUI, DUI with property damage and serious bodily injury and reckless driving.
At this time, investigations by the Florida Highway Patrol are planned to continue for the next few days.
