Trip & Fall Lawsuit Filed by Victim Injured in Airport

Last year, a woman living in Chicago filed a lawsuit after she tripped and fell in the Fayetteville Regional Airport.  Her accident occurred in 2006.

In her lawsuit, Wendy Murphy alleged that she tripped and fell while on her way to a US Airways flight on April 10, 2006.  Murphy claims that she tripped over a metal ring that was in the middle of the floor in the Airport's B Concourse.  She filed her lawsuit in November with the Cumberland County Superior Court.

In her court-filed complaint, Murphy says that as a result of her trip and fall accident, she "sustained serious, painful, disfiguring and permanent bodily injuries."  At this time, she is hoping to receive damages that exceed $10,000.  Murphy blames the airport and argues that airport employees should have warned people about the metal ring or should have removed it altogether.

She named the airport, the city of Fayetteville and US Airways as defendants in her lawsuit.

Court records reveal that the lawyer representing the popular airline filed a brief on January 16, 2009 stating that it should not be held liable for Murphy's accident or injuries.
