A motorcycle with faulty parts is dangerous and may lead to a fatal motorcycle accident.
Motorcycle manufacturers put their best efforts to assemble premium quality motorcycle parts. Despite their best efforts, however, mistakes occur. In some cases, manufacturers may produce defective parts. Distributors and suppliers make mistakes as well. As a result, the end user may receive a motorcycle with faulty parts. This could be dangerous and may lead to a fatal motorcycle accident.
In 2012, nine different motorcycle manufacturers issued around 50 motorcycle recalls. These recalls were issued for different reasons, such as engine overheating, fuel tank leakage, brake pads failure, and broken wheel rims. Defective motorcycle parts increase the risk of road accidents. Keeping up with all the recalls for defective motorcycle parts could be challenging. Register your motorcycle and keep your contact details updated, so that you get a notification if a recall is issued for your motorcycle. You can also visit websites such as ConsumerReports.org or SafetyBook.org for the latest updates.
Motorcycle Recall Notices
- Engine failure - A motorcycle manufacturer issued a recall notice to notify motorcycle owners, dealers, and suppliers about a defect in the police accessories, which were causing a main fuse failure and thus increasing the accident risks.
- Fuel tank leaking - A manufacturing company issued a recall notice for almost 1,000 of the company’s motorcycles in the beginning of 2012 to inform about fuel leaks caused by improper drying of the raw materials. Such fuel leaks could increase the risk of fire.
- Brake failure - Motorcycle manufacturers have recently issued recalls for defective brakes. The recalls were for out of order brake pads, which may cause sudden braking failure and thus increase the risk of accidents.
- Defective tires - Bald or flat tires cause many accidents. Tire blowouts are another common cause of accidents. If your motorcycle has defective tires, you may have problems in controlling the bike.
- Broken handlebars - Another recall of more than 1,000 motorcycles was issued to notify owners about broken handlebars caused by faulty heat treatment, which was making it difficult to hold the handlebar in its proper position. This could cause sudden loss of control, leading to an accident.
Faulty motorbike parts have caused motorcycle accidents in the United States. Even an experienced rider who drives safely can get involved in a motorcycle accident and suffer serious injuries. If you suffer an injury from an accident as a result of defective motorbike parts, you may be entitled to financial compensation. Contact an experienced
