Alabama Jury Awards 3 Million in Wrongful Death Suit

March – An Alabama jury awards 3 Million in a wrongful death law suit, to the surviving family members of a man who bled to death following his ulcer surgery.

The family members of Laboyish Catlin, 37, filed a medical malpractice lawsuit after Catlin died days after having surgery on his ulcer at Baptist Princeton Hospital in January of 2006.

The Prosecutors claimed that Catlin bled to death as a result of negligent medical care performed by the hospital’s medical staff. Mr. Catlin received multiple blood transfusions following the surgery; however, doctor’s failed to get the bleeding under control and sent the man home anyway, where he subsequently died.
