Drunk Driver Hits Pedestrian, Takes Victim to Hospital

A 38-year-old woman, M.B., has waived arraignment in the case against her for driving under the influence of alcohol and hitting a pedestrian. M.B. was driving her compact SUV one evening when she struck H.N., 22 years old. The victim received unspecified injuries in the accident. M.B. stopped her vehicle and got out to check on the pedestrian. She then got him into her car and drove to the hospital. Police arrived to investigate the incident and reported that at first M.B. denied having hit the 22-year-old man but just stopped to help.

Officers became suspicious of M.B.'s story when they found fresh damage on her SUV which matched what would have happened if a pedestrian was struck. Police also suspected her of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This suspicion was confirmed and M.B. was taken into custody on charges of negligent driving, aggravated driving while intoxicated and unsworn falsification and conduct after an accident. She waived arraignment and posted $5,000 bail. She called a friend to pick her up who arrived at the police station only to also be taken into custody for drunk driving. He also waived arraignment, posted bail and was released.

The accident victim, H.N., was interviewed by police at the hospital but could not remember what happened in the incident. He was treated for his injuries and later released from medical care.
