A man who was struck by a car in a late night accident is expected to survive his injuries after receiving intensive medical care. The man was walking near 122nd Street near the intersection with Burnside Avenue at about 1:00 in the morning when he was hit by a late model compact sedan. The 23-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle remained at the scene and called emergency services. Police and an ambulance arrived shortly afterward. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital for treatment of serious but unspecified blunt force trauma. Police spoke with the driver and said that she had been driving at the speed limit and neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected of being a factor. Investigators with Portland's Police Bureau's Major Crash Team will be continuing to look into the incident to determine if there were any factors such as distracted driving, etc. that may have caused the accident. The case will also be inspected by the county district attorney to determine if any citations or charges are to be files. Don't hesitate to speak with a personal injury lawyer if you were hurt in a pedestrian accident that was not your fault.
