Woman Sets Off Accident After Striking Tractor Trailer

Authorities allege that a woman attempting to merge from the New York State Thruway to Route 287 rammed into the rear of a tractor-trailer, setting off a series of collisions that left three men injured and hospitalized. The Brooklyn natives were traveling down the highway towards New Jersey when the accident occurred, leaving the victims severely injured.

According to the initial accident reports filed by law enforcement officers, the wreck was a result of a driver attempting to exit off the Thruway towards New Jersey. At approximately 3:20 PM on Tuesday, December 11^th, the driver merged into the center lane and slammed into a tractor-trailer. Authorities speculate she may have failed to notice the eighteen-wheeler in her blind spot. At this point, a spokesperson with the Mahwah police claimed, the tractor-trailer driver lost control and swerved into the left lane on the highway.

Three Injured Rushed To Local Medical Center

As the giant vehicle careened into the left lane, a pickup truck was unable to move out of the way and was struck, sending it swerving towards the center median. As it impacted with the concrete wall, the truck sustained extreme damage, as did the three occupants.

The victims, two brothers and a family friend, were injured severely as a result of the collision. All three were rushed to nearby Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York, just inside the border with New Jersey. Investigators informed media that neither the driver of the tractor-trailer nor the driver who caused the initial collision was hurt.

Traffic on Route 287 was severely backed up as a result of the crash, with all lanes not being reopened for several hours as workers attempted to clear the wreckage. The victims are expected to survive their injuries, but medical personnel reported the men sustained concussions, as well as multiple back and leg injuries in the crash.
