Elderly Woman Killed, Husband Injured in Pedestrian Accident

An elderly husband and wife were struck by a car while crossing the street on a recent evening. The two had just gotten off of a bus and were attempting to cross a downtown street when they were both hit by a car. Reports say that the driver of the vehicle that hit the couple was not speeding but was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. The driver remained on the scene while police and emergency crews arrived. Both pedestrians were quickly transported by ambulance to the nearest hospital but the woman's injuries were too extensive and she died.
